The Linden Method – Review
The Linden Method is a comprehensive program which guides you through a series of steps to overcome anxiety and panic for good.
It's more than just an online self-help program, though - the personal support by qualified and accredited psychologists makes the Linden Method my top choice online program for those who suffer from complex anxiety issues.
What's more, The Linden Method is the most thorough of any of the anti-anxiety programs I've encountered. Not only does it give you effective, systematic strategies to eliminate panic attacks, but the core method completely pulls out the plug which has been keeping your anxiety in place.
What is the Linden Method?
The program has been developed under the supervision of Charles Linden, who suffered from disabling anxiety for over 27 years before he discovered what he needed to do to stop it permanently. He wanted to help others get the same relief from anxiety, and so the Linden Method was born.
The Linden Centre has since helped over 160,000 people overcome anxiety of different types: Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Panic Disorder, Agoraphobia, Social Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other less common anxiety conditions.
Their record is impressive – you can read some of the testimonials of ex-anxiety sufferers, and endorsements by research psychologists, on their website.
You can also read Jemma Kidd's story about overcoming anxiety and panic in this article from The Daily Mail.
Charles is neither a doctor nor a psychologist himself, but he's worked closely with trained professionals as well as anxiety sufferers to develop the program into its current form. The program is accredited in both the UK and the US, and is recognised by the NHS in Britain as a program for referral of anxiety treatment.
How does the Linden Method work?
The Linden Method treats anxiety not as a medical condition but as an automatic reaction of your brain to certain situations, for example going out of the house, getting in the car, or meeting new people. (And sometimes we are not even aware of what it is that we are reacting to.)
This approach is in line with some of the latest research being done on brain function and anxiety – though most of the researchers are still looking for a magic pill that will fix anxiety for you (much of this research is funded by pharmaceutical companies).
Now, there are some advantages in thinking of anxiety as a medical disorder (especially if you want help through your medical insurance cover) – but there are also some big disadvantages. The biggest is that it keeps you feeling powerless and stuck with the condition.
If anxiety is a medical disorder, then you need medical treatment – and the truth is, there is no medical treatment for anxiety or any of the anxiety disorders. The most that any doctor or psychiatrist is able to do is to prescribe medication – medication that won't cure your anxiety, but maybe at best will take the edge of some of your symptoms and help you function better again. This can be useful sometimes – but it's not a cure!
Anxiety is a normal physical reaction that is being triggered inappropriately – and if you begin to think about it in that way, it opens the door to effective treatment.
It doesn't make a lot of difference how the anxiety started – some of us do have genetic predispositions to being anxious; some of us had some sort of trauma when we were young, or in a vulnerable state. The good news is that it is entirely possible to retrain our brains.
There are some sophisticated (and expensive) methods which can retrain the brain using different types of biofeedback equipment. Biofeedback studies are exciting, in showing that it is definitely possible to unlearn anxiety. But you don't need to go through this...
How can we retrain our brains to stop being anxious?
This is the core of the Linden Method.
As with any training program, you need to follow the steps as they are given. The Linden Method training makes it easy, though. The steps are well-presented and simple to follow, and there is support available if you run into any difficulties.

The Linden Method is a super-comprehensive program that comes with 12 months of real professional support included. Compared with the cost of one-on-one therapy – therapy that may not work – the program is excellent value.
There is a 12 month full guarantee too – if you don't like the program or it doesn't work for you, you can ask for your money back at any time within this period, and the guarantee is honored without any fuss. That's more than you get with personal therapy...
The Linden Method program has been professionally put together and gives a complete step by step roadmap, together with support at every step. All the strategies are based on tested and accepted methods that work.
If you want a low cost option, you could learn some of these strategies yourself from the various self-help books available, but the Linden Method does give you those extra important components: the guided nature of the program with its structured steps, and professional individual support.
For most anxiety sufferers, the block to treatment is in giving up when it gets hard – and this is where support will carry you through.
If you've reached the point where you want more help than is available from a book, and you're ready to commit to a program that will help you get rid of anxiety permanently, then the Linden Method will probably be a perfect fit for you.
